Martin Nash – Kings Incognito by Stephen Minch
Format: PDF
Experience the magic of “Kings Incognito,” one of Martin Nash’s more accessible performances, requiring only basic sleights commonly found in a close-up magician’s toolkit. Any unfamiliar techniques can be mastered quickly. Interestingly, the most challenging moves occur during the initial sequence, where Martin showcases various shuffling methods. He performs a faro shuffle (which doesn’t need to be flawless) and a push-through riffle shuffle. If these shuffles are new to you, feel free to replace them with any false shuffles and cuts you are comfortable with. Retaining just an eight-card stack on top of the deck makes this routine easy to manage.
“Kings Incognito” consists of five seamlessly integrated effects. The first trick is a captivating Triumph-style routine where cards are mixed face-up and face-down. In a magical twist, the deck rights itself, leaving only the four kings face-up. These kings are then transformed in a surprising moment into the four aces.
Next, the aces are showcased through expert “invisible” palming, akin to the techniques used by card sharps. One by one, the aces vanish from one spot and reappear under an obviously empty hand.
Continuing the theme, the aces disappear again, this time from packets, in an ace-assembly style. Each ace is clearly displayed before it vanishes, ultimately gathering under a spectator’s hand.
The performance concludes with an engaging Ambitious Card routine featuring a five-card packet.
