The late Orson Welles praised Max Maven for possessing “the most original mind in magic.” With over 1,700 contributions to conjuring literature, he has advised more than a hundred television productions. His consulting work includes collaborations with legends like David Copperfield, Siegfried & Roy, and Penn & Teller. Additionally, he has directed shows for major casinos across America.
Magic magazine recognized Max Maven as one of the 100 most influential figures in theatrical magic of the 20th century, noting his ability to “entertain and astonish audiences with his bizarre brand of mental magic.” His feats often rely on psychological techniques he has ingeniously developed, emphasizing the art hidden within the mystery of magic.
Max Maven’s exploration of the enigmatic aspects of human nature led to the publication of his book, *Book of Fortunetelling*, in 1992. He serves as a Senior Research Consultant for the Center for Scientific Anomalies Research in Michigan and is on the Board of Advisors for the California Science Center in Los Angeles, where his interactive work is featured in the traveling exhibit, *Magic: The Science of Illusion*.
He has made countless appearances on television and radio, including starring roles in various shows and specials. Notably, he created and starred in *The MAXimum Dimension*, a successful Canadian series aimed at younger audiences, which became one of the top-rated shows on the TVO network.
