This routine is inspired by Luke Jermay’s effect, Touching on Hoy.
In Jermay’s original presentation, three audience members are positioned on stage, facing the crowd. Each participant is prompted to think of their own interpretations of specific thoughts: a city from anywhere in the world, the name of an unfamiliar woman, and two simple geometric shapes. The performer gazes into each participant’s eyes and reveals their thoughts.
There are no stooges or confederates involved, and no pre-show work is required. Effects like this are invaluable in the realm of mentalism. The methodology is truly ingenious.
However, I felt the need for a context that aligns with my vision of presenting psychological illusions. After reflecting on this for several months, I discovered a solution that has proven effective in front of live audiences for several years.
