The Newspaper Test – Redefined!
A revolutionary, impromptu newspaper test from the ingenious Nefesch.
Nefesch, a celebrated television and live performer from El Salvador, has introduced numerous innovative concepts and enhancements to classic tricks. His creations include S.O.S – The Self Opening Soda, Frozen – where a signed coin appears encased in ice, and Hatching – a signed coin that mysteriously ends up inside a signed egg. Through his manager, Titanas from Greece, he has also released an impressive DVD set showcasing his unique magic and several instant download effects.
Understanding the value of the written word, we collaborated with Nefesch to offer this manuscript. For those who prefer video, it is available directly from Titanas.
We extend our gratitude to Tony Eye, author of The Write Stuff and Popular Selection, for contributing his insights and handling techniques to this manuscript. But what exactly is NEWZ?
In the classic Newspaper Test, a spectator circles a word on a page, and the performer reveals it later. Traditionally, this required prior access to the newspaper and involved gimmicks.
NOT ANYMORE! Now, you can use a borrowed newspaper or magazine and any pencil or marker. A spectator selects any page, circles an area, and then chooses a significant word from that section. It’s that simple—everything is borrowed, and nothing is pre-prepared.
The performer can accurately divine the selected word without any technology—no props to break, lose, or forget! There are no gaffs or gimmicks; everything is borrowed. This technique can be adapted to various effects using any paper or magazine.
From the creator of Frozen, Hatching, and S.O.S, this printed monograph includes additional handling and insights from Tony Eye, author of Popular Selection and The Write Stuff.
