Begin by introducing four black-backed cards to your spectator, who will mix them freely without viewing their faces. This gives them the freedom to arrange the cards in any order, resulting in 24 possible combinations (4!).

Next, the spectator decides how to orient each card, choosing to flip some 180 degrees or leave them as is, adding 16 more possibilities!

They will then select where to place the cards on the table to form a square, further increasing their options.

After all these free choices, it’s time to reveal the cards.

When the cards are turned over, the spectator discovers that, despite all their choices, they have created the only arrangement that forms the Mona Lisa puzzle printed on the cards’ faces.

OPUS also serves as a PREDICTION effect.
