Discover RPS Entity: A Unique Mentalism Experience
Finding engaging close-up mentalism that doesn’t rely on playing cards can be challenging. RPS Entity is an exciting addition for strolling entertainers and hobbyists eager to impress their friends. This effect draws inspiration from Simon Aronson’s CHILD’S PLAY, featured in his remarkable book, SIMPLY SIMON. Aronson’s version involved small toys resembling Rock, Paper, and Scissors, paired with colored poker chips. Participants would select two chips, and Aronson would predict the outcome, culminating in a stunning reveal.
While the original concepts are intriguing, I wanted to simplify the performance. Carrying six props for a single effect felt cumbersome, and the preparation for Aronson’s prediction ending was impractical for strolling performances. Thus, I reimagined the routine to utilize just three pieces of paper or business cards, or a prepared set of three poker chips, if preferred.
I’ve streamlined the effect by removing the need for special toys, creating a quick, entertaining, and mystifying three-part routine with an optional prediction ending. RPS Entity is versatile enough to be performed over the phone, online, via email, or chat lines. While it may not be the ultimate revelation in mentalism, the widespread appeal of Rock, Paper, Scissors (also known as Roshambo) ensures immediate audience recognition and engagement.
I’ve successfully used this routine in various performances, consistently receiving positive feedback. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
