Dee Christopher – Rush

  • Set up in just one minute for countless performances.

“Dee Christopher has created an innovative and thrilling way to adapt a perilous stage classic for close-up magic. A brilliant concept from a remarkable performer.”Daniel Madison

“A fantastic blend of original thought and the thrill of fire. It’s a double win! Unfortunately, it always succeeds… which is bad news for pyromaniacs.” – Paul Brook, Mind Reader

From Dee Christopher’s introduction:

For nearly a decade, I’ve been performing Russian roulette routines on stage, utilizing spikes, staple guns, power drills, knives, and more.

The core effect involves the performer skillfully avoiding a dangerous item hidden among several identical objects, such as the sole cup with a spike underneath. These routines are packed with suspense and impact. I’ve long sought a method to create a Russian roulette experience in a close-up setting, suitable for walk-around or table gigs.

Many existing options seem like mere magic tricks or lack logic. I aimed for something using everyday items that fit in your pocket, appeared harmless, and worked flawlessly in any situation.

With RUSH, you’ll learn the secret to performing the ultimate close-up Russian roulette using standard disposable lighters.

One by one, a spectator will choose three out of four lighters to either ignite under your palm or set fire to a valuable item (like an envelope containing cash). None of the selected lighters will ignite, leaving only one that actually works. Every time.

If you perform in bars or nightclubs with their branded lighters, you can easily prepare them in the restroom and execute this effect. For trade shows or corporate events, use their branded lighters. Consider having your own lighters printed with your information and giving away the final lighter as a memorable business card!

This effect can be framed as a compelling demonstration of decision influence, subliminal suggestion, chance manipulation, prediction, or even as a mind-reading feat. Regardless of your approach, this will enhance your performance repertoire.
