In 1950, Boston’s Detective Thomas Duffy was renowned for his crime-solving skills. While many believed he possessed psychic abilities, Duffy considered himself merely highly intuitive. Superstitious by nature, he always carried a lucky coin, which he claimed helped him identify criminals. It was said that this coin could “speak” to him, revealing the guilty party among a group of suspects.

Legend has it that anyone who holds this coin can experience the same insights as Duffy.

“Let’s put this to the test,” the performer announces.

A mugshot is presented, but the identity of the perpetrator was unknown due to missing identification at the time of arrest. This mugshot remains visible to the participant throughout the performance.

While gripping the lucky coin, the participant mentally selects a name from a list of over a dozen suspects related to the case. She reviews police lineup records from the 1950s and visualizes a lineup in her mind, confirming her choice of the guilty party (if uncertain, she can choose another name).

When asked about details of the crime, she astonishingly provides accurate answers.

As the mugshot is flipped over, a label reveals the exact name she mentally selected!
