Gravel is outstanding. Tom delivers solid material in this collection. One standout routine involves cutting a rope in half, only for a safety pin to magically appear between the two segments, holding them together. The routine continues to impress from there. Additionally, there’s a brilliant method for making two ropes appear to fuse in mid-air, all without any gaffs! “Negative Spaces” is a card trick I practiced with the props, and it’s both clever and impactful. The mentalism routines are well-crafted, and the included “special symbol cards” are pre-designed for easy printing. This is some of Tom’s finest work. – David Regal
I downloaded GRAVEL on release day and have been exploring it ever since. Like many others, I’m quite impressed. True to Mr. Stone’s style, the booklet is beautifully produced, visually appealing, and features excellent illustrations. The layout and attention to detail are top-notch. The magic itself is equally impressive. In his previous PDF releases, Tom showcased his cleverness, and the material in GRAVEL is no exception. It includes complete routines as well as ideas that can easily be integrated into your performances, especially the rope concepts. It begins with The Test, a clever mental effect that reflects Tom’s admiration for Max Maven. The method is sure to leave audiences baffled. Following that are intriguing ideas involving chairs, ropes (with various cut and restored techniques), and cigarettes (a delightful Slydini-inspired effect where a broken cigarette magically restores). Another mentalism effect, Synonymax, offers strong audience participation. Tom provides thorough explanations, ensuring this routine will shine on stage. The booklet also features additional ideas with coins and ropes, culminating in the routine Negative Spaces, which David previously mentioned. This effect creatively combines elements from “Real Gone Aces” and “Open Travellers,” leading to a unique outcome. Three aces are placed on the table while one is set aside in a card box. When three indifferent cards are added to the first ace, it mysteriously disappears, leaving only the three cards. The same happens with the second ace, and when the third ace is introduced, it vanishes as well, only to be found in the card box at the end. The method is both clever and clean, sure to inspire countless variations. Since my first encounter with a Tom Stone booklet, I’ve been a fan, and my admiration has only grown. – Lance Pierce
