The magician borrows six business cards from a spectator or can utilize his own. He writes “TRUTH” on three cards and “LIE” on the other three. The spectator then shuffles the cards, ensuring that no one knows which is which. Keeping the cards face down, the spectator marks an “X” on the bottom card without looking at it, then mixes the cards again. They place the cards face down on the table, and six individuals each select one card. The performer explains that no one can know the arrangement of truth and lie cards, nor can they identify the card marked with an “X.” This card designates the “murderer” among them, who has the option to either lie or tell the truth.

The performer poses a straightforward question to one of the spectators, such as “Are you the murderer?” or “Does your card have an ‘X’ on it?” The spectator responds with “Yes” or “No.” Instantly, the performer can discern whether the spectator is lying or telling the truth, and this process can be repeated with any participant. The performer achieves 100% accuracy every time. As a grand finale, he can even disclose whether the murderer is being truthful or deceptive, revealing their identity!
