The spectator begins by cutting a standard packet of cards, placing the bottom half atop the top half. The performer then spreads the cards face-down on the table, allowing the spectator to select any card, which remains face-down and its identity hidden.

After gathering the cards, the spectator is prompted to cut the deck again into two piles. The cut position is marked by placing the lower half at a right angle on the upper half. Finally, the selected card is revealed face-up.

The performer highlights that the spectator has inadvertently cut to two cards: one from the bottom of the top half and another from the top of the bottom half. Turning over the top half reveals a card that perfectly matches the suit of the spectator’s selection, while the top card from the bottom half matches the value of the selected card.
