What is 4 Switch?

4 Switch is an innovative method developed by Pierre Acourt, which reinterprets a lesser-known yet brilliant technique involving the permutation of three objects or individuals. This approach diverges from Bob Hummer’s well-known principle of permutations and incorporates the updated Green Neck system.

The key benefit of 4 Switch is that the magician does not need to know the initial arrangement of the objects before turning away. While there are subtle constraints at play, they are so discreet that spectators will believe they have freely shuffled the items as they wished. The accompanying book features a chapter on “verbal subtleties” that aids in achieving this illusion.

Example Effect: CHIRO POCKET

A spectator selects three small objects and places them on a table. With the magician’s back turned, the objects are shuffled. The spectator then takes one object to their pocket, one in their left hand, and one in their right hand. The magician turns back (or not) and reveals which object is in the spectator’s pocket, then identifies the objects in their left and right hands without any prior peeking.

There are no accomplices involved, and the magician does not use electronics or gimmicks.
