Mastering 5 Essential Card Controls
This comprehensive guide delves into five expertly crafted card controls, each meticulously explained with a focus on the subtleties that enhance their effectiveness. A standout feature of this project is the insightful discussions between myself and Ross Tayler, where we explore practical applications for each control in real-world scenarios.
Included:
Ruff Shuff: A dynamic control that involves shuffling selected cards and arranging them in small blocks on the table. This has become my preferred control.
The D’Amico Control: Leveraging the D’Amico Change, this control is particularly beneficial when dealing with challenging spectators.
Bedwell Dribble Drop Control: A refined version of the original Steve Bedwell Control, this technique creates the illusion that the selected card is casually dropped into the center of a dribble, making it highly deceptive.
Clip Slip: My favorite “magician fooler” control, this move gives the impression of placing a card in the center, only for it to magically appear on top without any noticeable movements.
Steranko/Cardini Control: In this technique, cards are dribbled from one hand to the other, with the spectator calling “stop” on a chosen card. The card is revealed, and as the remaining cards are dribbled on top, the selected card is skillfully controlled to the top.
