Chris Brown – Carpenter’s Ghost Production
Episode VII – Carpenter’s Ghost Production is an astonishing one-card production that stands out in the realm of magic. I first encountered this captivating effect at the GGG convention in 2010, introduced to me by the talented Jack Carpenter. He remarked, “Chris, I’ve been experimenting with this, and I believe you could elevate it further.” A year later, I returned to showcase my interpretation to him. Jack is undoubtedly among the top 20 card handlers I admire. Anyone who has witnessed his performances knows his skill with a deck is extraordinary. He can perform seamlessly with both hands, and the first time I saw him do this, it left me in awe. Very few magicians possess such versatility.
Receiving this creative concept from Jack was a true honor. He entrusted me with his idea, encouraging me to explore its potential, given my passion for intricate card moves. To clarify, I reached out to Jack for his permission to feature this in my series, and he graciously approved. I named it the Ghost Production because it appears as though an unseen force is extracting the card from the spread.
Let me address a common question: there are no gimmicks involved. This effect relies entirely on skill and the principles of card manipulation. All you need is a standard deck and some practice. I incorporate this move into various routines when I want to reveal a card in a visually striking manner. Techniques like this enhance the elegance of your performance, enriching the visual experience for your audience. Welcome to Episode VII, and be wary of the ghosts!
