The magician presents a standard puzzle cube alongside a smaller version, which fits snugly into a box. With his back turned, a spectator places the small cube inside the box, ensuring their favorite color is facing up, and secures the lid. When the performer turns back, he accurately identifies the color on top of the box while simultaneously mixing the larger cube in his hands. After a quick shake, one side of the larger cube reveals a solid color. Upon opening the box, the small cube matches the color displayed on the larger cube.

In a second phase, the spectator holds the small cube instead of placing it in the box. The performer shakes the larger cube, aligning one side with the color of the small cube. When asked if the colors match, the spectator responds with “No!” The performer then mixes the larger cube and states, “I want all sides to match the color in your hands.” After shaking the cube again, all sides instantly align to the same color.
