LINT Book by John Luka – PDF Download

This project originated from John Luka’s “Thoughts On…” column featured in The New Tops magazine between October 1993 and December 1994. Luka’s insights catered to the majority of magicians who perform pocket and parlor tricks for small audiences, often in informal settings like parties or business gatherings. He focused on material suitable for the vast majority of magicians who are not professionals.

Among the standout effects in L.I.N.T. is Luka’s impressive Chromo Balls, a favorite at Fechter’s, showcasing a pure sleight of hand technique inspired by Daley’s Chromo Spheres. The book also compiles material from his Tops Magazine columns, presenting various adaptations and simplified techniques for concepts such as Vernon’s Simple Arithmetic, the Zarrow Shuffle, the Turnover Pass, and Brother Hamman’s Homing Card. Additionally, it includes four instructive exercises that blend different card assembly sequences into cohesive routines.

Readers will discover intriguing creations from Ron Bauer, including the life-changing trick for Luka, The Magic Coin. Bauer’s Lie Detector is also featured, presenting the original method of this classic card magic effect, which is not about computerized decks or lie detection. Two previously unpublished miracles, Second Sight—a comedic triple prediction effect—and Devilish Trickery, a clear and subtle handling of the Marlo/D’Amico Devilish Miracle, are included as well. Bauer clarifies Key to the Draw, the first trick ever published by his lifelong friends Jack McMillen and Charlie Miller. Milt Kort, the innovator behind combo coin box routines, shares insights on his Okito Less Coin Box, while Paul Chosse details his clever debugging of Erdnase’s Diagonal Palm Shift. John Luka has also gathered select contributions from Paul Cummins, Ron Aldrich, John Morgan, Bill Kalush, Michael Ammar, Chris Carter, and Eric DeCamps. This comprehensive work spans 143 pages.
