Lewis Ganson – Matching the Cards Teach-In

When legendary magician Lewis Ganson consulted Dai Vernon on the finest card trick, Vernon asserted that “Matching The Cards” was unparalleled, especially when showcased to non-magicians. This sentiment resonates with numerous top card magicians who frequently incorporate various adaptations of this effect into their performances.

The origins of this classic effect trace back to “Magician’s Tricks” by Hatton and Plate. In Vernon’s rendition, a spectator selects a card, which is placed face down on the table. The magician then attempts to locate the three matching cards to create a ‘four of a kind.’ As each card is revealed, three Eights are displayed face down. When the spectator’s card is revealed, it turns out to be a King, suggesting an error. However, upon turning over the other three cards, they astonishingly reveal themselves to be Kings!

This teach-in will guide you through variations by renowned magicians including Dai Vernon, Nate Leipzig, Herbert Milton, Faucett Ross, Fred Lowe, and Luis Gavilondo.

Originally part of the esteemed Ganson Teach-In series published by Supreme Magic Inc., we extend our gratitude to Martin Breese for allowing us to reproduce this booklet.
