For years, I’ve been captivated by Al Koran’s “Note Under Cup” routine, which utilizes a Hummer principle. This classic effect involves locating a borrowed bill hidden beneath one of three opaque cups. A popular twist is revealing the bill’s serial number afterward. While I admire this effect, I’ve encountered a few challenges with the method. When your back is turned, participants can freely swap the cups as long as they announce the positions of the cups being exchanged. I aimed to eliminate this entirely, allowing spectators to remain silent and unaware of how many swaps they made. Moreover, I wanted them to have complete freedom in mixing the cups without any restrictions. At the end, the participant reveals the serial number of the bill using “Serial Thriller” (available on my site), making them the star of the show! How impactful is that?

“Neti Neti” accomplishes all of this effortlessly! While Koran’s effect is impressive, its inherent drawbacks may explain why it isn’t more widely performed.
